What to expect

My coaching sessions offer flexibility, allowing you to choose between in person or online options. For those who prefer face-to-face, our in-person sessions are held in therapy rooms at Melville Terrace, Stirling.
My coaching approach is intended to be a short-term intervention, typically you will experience positive results within 4 to 6 weeks.
Free Initial Chat
It’s important to find the right coach or therapist for you, so I encourage you to shop around and speak with a few professionals. I offer a free, 30-minute no-obligation chat where we can get to know each other. This informal, interactive session is a great opportunity for you to learn more about me and for me to understand what challenges you’re facing.
What is Emotion Focused Therapy?
Emotion-Focused Therapy is a supportive approach that places emotions at the center of human functioning and therapeutic change. This method promotes the awareness, expression, regulation, understanding, and transformation of emotions, making it suitable for anyone facing various difficulties in life.
Why are Emotions important?
- Emotions Shape Our Perceptions of Our Situation
- Emotions Influence the Brain, Language & Cognition
- Emotions Connect us to our Bodies
- Emotions prepare us for Action, they are what “moves us”
Problems arise when we operate on autopilot and we fail to tap into the emotions driving our behaviours, habits and thoughts. Even when we are aware, we might not have the tools to manage these emotions effectively. This is where, as an Emotion Focused Coach, I can help.

“I met Jo for 3 sessions as I was struggling with general anxiety and in particular having ad hoc panic attacks doing the school run. I’d previously tried mindfulness and a bit of CBT which helped a bit but I still struggled ad hoc.
Jo immediately put me at ease – I was worried it would feel awkward chatting via Zoom, but it worked perfectly. Jo is so warm and natural, I relaxed without thinking about it. It’s difficult to explain what Jo does, but I came away feeling lighter than I have for several years – it was like letting the sunshine back in!
I would wholeheartedly recommend Jo as a coach – she has such a calming and reassuring manner, I trusted her totally. Jo has restored my inner calm and I’m able to manage day to day with far more courage and resilience than I could have anticipated after just a few sessions. I wouldn’t hesitate to book in with Jo in future should the need arise.”

“Working with Jo helped me look at childhood emotional experiences with adult eyes. I found it so powerful. There was a huge shift in my way of thinking as a result.”

“Riverside Primary School recently had the pleasure of experiencing and working with the exceptional service provided by Ollie and his Superpowers, and I cannot speak highly enough of their dedication, expertise and care. From the moment we fostered our partnership, it was clear that all the staff are deeply committed to fostering a nurturing and stimulating experience for children. The philosophy is so engaging and has really supported our young learners in increasing their self-belief and confidence. The coaches are not only highly qualified but also incredibly compassionate, taking the time to understand each child’s unique needs and preferences. This personalised attention has had a profound impact on our young learners, who have become more confident, socially engaged, and eager to learn. The structured yet flexible philosophy balances play and learning seamlessly, promoting cognitive and emotional development. Moreover, the philosophy’s emphasis on engaging families and communication provides improved education to parents. Overall, our partnership has been very supportive in making it a valuable experience for our families.” Headteacher
